After a few months of Repairs and Redecoration (R&R) works, Yio Chu Kang 628 Market & Food Centre reopened in December 2025 with a brighter, cleaner, and more comfortable dining environment for residents and patrons. Among the returning stalls is Nasi Lemak @ 67, a regular favourite known for its basmati nasi lemak and freshly prepared Malay dishes.

Located at Stall #01-67, Ms Siti Naqviah started the stall in 2016 and has been serving the Ang Mo Kio community since.
“I wasn’t working at the time, so I decided to start a small business. The people here are very friendly, and their support is why I’m still here after almost 10 years.”

For Ms Siti, nasi lemak comes from family tradition. She learned the recipe at home and continues to prepare it using fresh, home-style methods. The rice uses fresh coconut milk, and the sambal is made from freshly ground chillies. Ingredients are prepared daily to maintain consistency.
The stall stands out for using basmati rice instead of regular rice, a choice she made with health considerations in mind, especially for elderly customers.

“Basmati rice is a healthier option, even for people with diabetes. I wanted to give residents a better choice.”
After the R&R, Nasi Lemak @ 67 kept its prices unchanged so that meals remain affordable for residents in the neighbourhood. Most dishes are priced between about $3.00 and $6.00, depending on the selection.

Ms Siti was glad when she heard that the market & food centre would be undergoing upgrading works. When business resumed, the changes were easy to notice. The toilets are cleaner, the seating layout is neater, the space looks brighter, and there are fewer birds around the dining area after new bird spikes are installed.

“The toilets are much cleaner now, which makes a big difference.”

“There are fewer birds around now, so it’s more hygienic.”

“Some customers shared that the seating is neater now and the place is brighter after the upgrading.”
Over the years, the stall has built a steady base of neighbourhood support. Many customers have been visiting for years, including residents from nearby blocks, seniors, and workers from surrounding offices and the Ang Mo Kio industrial area.

“Most of my customers have been coming since I started. I already know what they usually order. We are like friends.”
