Planting Dreams, Going Green with Our Community

Ang Mo Kio Town Council’s Annual Tree Planting & Grandparents’ Day on 2 November 2025 brought residents and students together for a morning of greenery, learning, and hands-on activities. Participants explored interactive booths from our booth partners, tried recycling and gardening, and discovered family and health tips along the way.

Our 15 Partners Bringing the Community Together

With a total of 15 partners joining us to set up booths, the event offered something for everyone, whether it was discovering eco-friendly practices, picking up useful health tips, or simply enjoying the fun and interactive games.

TOMRA Singapore Pte Ltd

TOMRA brought their Reverse Vending Machine which allowed residents to recycle plastic bottles and aluminium cans in a fun and hands-on way.

Their Cleaning Loop Recycling technology turns used containers into new ones, helping the community reduce waste and build a greener Ang Mo Kio. In just one morening, 49 residents recycled a total of 64 plastic bottles and 59 aluminium cans!

“It’s amazing to see young and old alike getting involved. Together, these small steps help build a more sustainable community.”

— CK Chai, Managing Director, TOMRA Singapore Pte Ltd

ALBA E-Waste Singapore

ALBA E-Waste Singapore also brought along their e-waste recycling bin and the friendly ambassadors on-site guided our residents on safe electronic waste disposal, clarifying which items can and cannot be recycled. Their involvement helped residents in Ang Mo Kio to learn how to adopt safer disposal habits and reduce e-waste properly.

💡Tip: Items such as rice cookers and electric toys cannot be disposed in the e-waste bins.

“Helping everyone understand safe e-waste disposal makes today’s event meaningful. Every properly recycled item counts!”

— Jason Goh, Communication Specialist, ALBA E-Waste Singapore

Ministry of Social & Family Development (MSF)

MSF’s Families for Life (FFL) Programme connects Ang Mo Kio residents to practical family support. Through FFL@Community, families can join parents’ groups, attend workshops on marriage and parenting, and take part in community family activities.

SATA CommHealth

SATA CommHealth provided practical guidance on preventive care and kidney health for our residents. They shared tips on maintaining a balanced lifestyle, staying hydrated, and monitoring key health indicators. Through the booth activity, residents learnt how to take simple steps to care for their health.

“Community health starts with awareness. We're glad that we can guide residents on simple kidney-care habits that support long-term wellbeing.”

— SATA CommHealth Fernvale Dialysis Centre Team

Kebun Baru Link Community Garden

Kebun Baru Link Community Gardeners gave residents free potted plants and freshly harvested winter melon to encourage them to start mini gardens at home. Through simple demonstrations on plant care and sustainable gardening, residents picked up practical skills to start and maintain their own home gardens.

💡Tip: Adopt the National Environment Agency (NEA)’s B-L-O-C-K Mozzie Wipeout measure at home to keep your plants healthy and prevent mosquito breeding.

“Even a small plant in your home can make our neighbourhood greener. Every garden, big or small, adds life and joy into our community.”

— Kebun Baru Link Community Garden Team
