After 2 months of Repairs and Redecoration works, Teck Ghee Court Market & Food Centre reopened on 1 July 2025, welcoming residents back to a brighter, cleaner, and more comfortable dining environment. Among the many familiar faces is Ming Ri Vegetarian (明日素食), a stall that has served wholesome vegetarian meals to the community for 22 years.

Before becoming a hawker, the stall owner Mr Tai Wong Li worked in the construction line. A chance meeting with the market’s former operator led him to train as an apprentice at a vegetarian stall.
“I started as an apprentice here. When I opened my own stall, I named it 明日, symbolising hope for tomorrow.”

After the upgrading, Ming Ri Vegetarian (明日素食) kept its prices unchanged to make meals affordable for regulars. Menu prices range from $2.00 to $4.50. Some of their menu items include:

At Teck Ghee Court MFC, there are two vegetarian and six economic bee hoon stalls. To stand out, Mr Tai travelled to Malaysia to learn how to make kway chap and fine-tuned the recipe upon returning to match local preferences
“Some customers have been eating here since they were children. Now they’ve grown up, started families, and still return with their own kids.”
Having been part of Teck Ghee for over two decades, Ming Ri Vegetarian (明日素食) has weathered two rounds of renovation, each one a reminder of how much the market and its community have grown together.

Before the renovation, daily operations were challenging due to the presence of birds. Customers would sometimes leave their food unattended while getting drinks, only to return and find that birds had pecked at it.

Since the installation of bird spikes, the problem has been largely alleviated, making the place more hygienic.
“The bird issue has improved a lot after the renovation, we don’t have to worry about birds landing near the food anymore,” Mr Tai, Stall Owner of Ming Ri Vegetarian, shared.

“I’ve noticed there are fewer birds around now. With the new fans, fresh coat of paint and upgraded seating, it feels much cooler and cleaner. I enjoy coming to Teck Ghee Market and Food Centre and I come here more often now,” said one customer.
For now, Ming Ri Vegetarian (明日素食) keeps its focus simple: serve good food, keep prices affordable, and stay grateful for the refreshed environment after the renovation.

“This stall has been part of my life for 22 years,” he said. “With the new look, I just hope to keep doing my best here for the residents who’ve supported us all this time.”
If you’re visiting Teck Ghee Court Market & Food Centre, don’t miss Ming Ri Vegetarian (明日素食). A stall that has stood strong for 22 years, serving wholesome vegetarian meals with heart.
