As the Chinese New Year draws near, many residents are preparing homes, enjoying traditions, and catching up with family and friends. This festive season is a cherished time for reunion and renewal.
At the same time, small actions by each of us can help maintain a safe and pleasant living environment for everyone. From building good daily habits to taking care of our environment, we can all play a part in keeping Ang Mo Kio a welcoming home for all residents.
During the Chinese New Year, many families observe the tradition of burning joss paper as part of the festive celebrations.
As this practice is widely carried out during this period, Ang Mo Kio Town Council seeks residents’ co-operation in practising proper joss paper burning, so that everyone can continue to celebrate the occasion in a considerate and harmonious living environment.

As part of spring-cleaning preparations, many households may have bulky items such as old furniture or large appliances to clear.
To support this, Ang Mo Kio Town Council will be providing Free Bulky Items Disposal arrangement at selected void decks from now till 16 February 2026.
Residents can look out for the official bulky disposal poster (image below) displayed at selected void decks and dispose of bulky items accordingly.

With bulky items cleared, many households may also find smaller items such as clothes, bags, cables, or household essentials that are still in usable condition.
Instead of discarding them, residents are encouraged to give these items a second life through the recycling and donation bins available across our estates.

Across Ang Mo Kio Town, different recycling and donation bins are placed to support responsible disposal and reuse:
Please refer to the full list of locations of Recycling Bins in Ang Mo Kio Town here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17rnXAuPkc/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Each bin serves a different purpose, helping to make recycling and donation more convenient and meaningful for the community.
Before placing items into the bins, residents are encouraged to ensure that items are clean, dry and in usable condition.
As we welcome the Year of the Horse, Ang Mo Kio Town Council wishes all residents a joyful, healthy, and fulfilling Chinese New Year! Through small daily actions and thoughtful choices, we can continue to care for our neighbourhood and environment together, and keep the One Heart, One Home spirit strong in our community.
