Started by Weng Zhi Jie and his parents, the stall has been part of the Mayflower community for two years now after relocating from their previous stall at Block 630 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.
Keeping Traditions Alive
The inspiration for their vegetarian menu came from a family friend who shared a cherished vegetarian recipe.
“My parents used to sell Ban Mee, but we switched to vegetarian food after a friend passed his recipe to them. My parents also eat vegetarian food.”
Their vegetarian Kway Chap has since become a standout favourite, drawing both regulars and new customers curious to try something new. With soft sheets of Kway, braised tofu, and aromatic broth, it’s a dish that comforts and satisfies without breaking the bank.
Affordable Meals, Shared Kindness
In today’s rising cost climate, Zhen Xin Vegetarian stands out for keeping its prices affordable. Their menu prices range from $2.80 to $4.00

“As long as our suppliers maintain their prices, we try our best to keep our prices low and affordable. There are many families and seniors in this area, and we want our food to be something they can enjoy without worrying about the prices.”
Beyond prices, what makes this stall special is its pay-it-forward initiative. Each day, a small donation box sits at the counter. Contributions from the public go directly towards funding meals for those in need. Customers who wish to help can chip in, and those who need a meal but cannot pay are offered simple meals through this initiative.
“It is something my boss started. We believe if we can help someone, we should. Sometimes, people donate even when they do not buy anything from us. They just want to help someone else in the community.”
This quiet generosity has touched many in the neighbourhood, creating a ripple effect of kindness among residents. Many customers also share about the stall’s donation box with their friends, spreading word about the little ways one can help a neighbour.

“This is a family business. We are happy to just keep it running well. If there is a chance for a bigger space one day, maybe we will consider it. But right now, we just want to do our best here.”
